Congrats!
Congradulations!!!!!
Thanks, it's been traveling for a few months now. I keep forgetting abt. it until I get reminders of where it's at.
Yes, congratulations David from me too!
Spinner can easily be a metaphor for many things. He has a huge all-seeing eye, multiple arms, and cavernous fanged mouth. I wonder if he represents how things feel to us, as if they seem out of control in our current social, and political era?
Or, maybe being the ever cynical realist, I'm just naturally reading more than I should into him...
all the same, very interesting, and thought provoking...
Shit! i just spent the week in Seattle, right by the space!!!! Didn't have my 'puter and didn't know!!! -mb
Hey John-
You're pretty close actually. Spinner is a metaphor for something evil but more local.
I've been doing these large-eyed creatures in various incarnations for a while now and this one was "born" as a result of another artist friend of mine and myself concepting on a short animated film. Having both worked in the fashion industry here in NY and seeing firsthand how crazy people in a position of perceived power behave, this image was based on a visual director working in a window display. The original concept has the creature with a Starbucks coffee in each claw and is spinning wildly while barking out orders. (Not too far from the truth) I've seen some pretty crazy shit all in the name of "Fashion".
